We cannot but pity the boy who has never fired a gun; he is no more humane, while his education has been sadly neglected.
Henry David Thoreau

10 Rules of Gun Safety

1. Control the direction of the firearm's muzzle. Keep the safety on and fingers off the trigger at all times until ready to shoot.

2. Identify the target and what is beyond it before shooting. Know the identifying features of the game hunted and be absolutely certain that what you are aiming at is that game.

3. Treat every firearm as if it is loaded.

4. Be sure the barrel and action are clear of obstructions and that only the proper size of ammunition is used in the firearm.

5. Always unload a firearm when it is not in use, leave the actions open, carry empty firearms in a case to and from shooting areas.

6. Never aim a firearm at anything that you do not intend to shoot. Avoid all horseplay with a firearm.

7. Never climb a tree or fence, or jump a ditch or log, with a loaded firearm. Never pull a firearm towards you by the muzzle.

8. Never shoot a bullet at a flat, hard surface or at water. Make sure backstops are adequate during target practice.

9. Store firearms and ammunition separately and beyond the reach of children and careless adults.

10. Avoid all alcoholic beverages and drugs before and during shooting.

Fred Bear Quotes

If you are not working to protect hunting, then you are
working to destroy it.

Hardships are quickly forgotten. Intense heat, bitter cold,
rain and snow, fatigue, and luckless hunting fade quickly into memories of great
fellowship, thoughts of beautiful country, pleasant camps, and happy campfires.

Go afield with a good attitude, with respect for the wildlife
you hunt and for the forest and fields in which you walk. Immerse yourself
in the outdoor experience. It will cleanse your soul and make you a better
person.

A hunt based only on trophies taken falls far short of what
the ultimate goal should be . . . time to commune with your inner soul as you
share the outdoors with the birds, animals, and fish that live there.

I hunt deer because I love the entire process; the
preparation, the excitement, and sustained suspense of trying to match my woods
lore against the finely honed instincts of these creatures.

When bow-hunting, you find you get closer to the woodland critters. The flora
and the forest floor becomes clearer. You look at things more closely. You're
more aware. You know the limited range of the bow is only 40 yards or so. You
must try to outwait that approaching deer. Careful not to make the slightest
movement or sound hoping that your scent won't suddenly waft his way. That's
when you'll know for sure and appreciate deeply what bow-hunting is all
about.

Ted Nugent Quotes

“Vegetarians are cool. All I eat are vegetarians - except for the occasional mountain lion steak.”

“There are hundreds of millions of gun owners in this country, and not one of them will have an accident today. The only misuse of guns comes in environments where there are drugs, alcohol, bad parents, and undisciplined children. Period.”

“My idea of fast food is a mallard.”

“You have to save the habitat, you have to save the population - not individual animals. What you want to save is the foundation, the basic infrastructure from which resources are produced. You can't save Fifi and Boo-Boo and Thumper.”

“If you want to save a species, simply decide to eat it. Then it will be managed - like chickens, like turkeys, like deer, like Canadian geese.”

“Big bangs don't make this, ... That's not a big bang. God made that. That's a liver. That's mystical. You and I can't make livers. Things banging don't make livers. This is mystical stuff. This is magic. This is perfection.”

Hunting Videos

2010 Season - The new season is underway! Check out Chase's Alabama turkey hunt and watch for more gobbler videos coming this spring. It's gonna be a great year!

2009 Season - Chase started 2009 off with a bang, getting his first coyote ever - and on video! A special thanks goes to Bell's Bucks & Beards hunting buddy, Mike Riley, for putting Chase on the 'yote. Mike was also able to take a coyote on video, sort of; Troy showed why he better stick to his day job when he was unable to get the actual kill on video. Monty and Troy had a rough turkey season, but were finally able to connect on a jake double on the last day for them to hunt together. This season also includes a fun dove hunt, Booey's first hunt, and Chase's first buck that he was able to film himself!

2008 Season - This season started with Troy's opening day turkey and includes Sam and Monty's Veteran's Day buck, Chase's first bow kill, and more.

2007 Season - One look at these videos and it's easy to tell that Bell, Bucks, & Beards has come a long way! All of these were shot on an old 8mm camera and just for fun. For some reason these videos have got thousands of views on youtube, so we provide them here for you to check out.
